UPDATE: Santa Clarita Valley Deputies End Chase With Arrest (W/ Video)

A police chase that began not far from the Mountasia parking lot at the 21500 block on Golden Triangle Road ended with a man being booked on suspicion of vehicle theft, said Lt. Bill Weiss of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“A car was stolen out of the Mountasia parking lot and one of our units picked it up, and the chase ended at Camp Plenty and Soledad Canyon Road,” Weiss said.

“It struck two vehicles that were stopped at the red light,” he added. The car was a black two-door Honda that was taken around 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

“The name of the suspect has not been released, the detectives are still conducting their investigation,” he added. The man suspected of stealing the black Honda was booked and processed at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect, who had been driving for two days in another stolen vehicle and dumped that vehicle at Mountasia, was accompanied by a 15-year-old-girl who had run away from home, according to a statement from Sheriff's Station officials. Both were still in custody Sunday morning.

Three cars were struck by the car thief during the incident, and neither the driver nor the passenger of the Honda was injured. One car was struck as the car thief attempted to leave the Mountasia parking lot. There was no injuries reported from the two cars that were hit at the end of the chase, either, Weiss said.

There was minor damage to all three vehicles.
