Assembly Votes To Honor President Ronald Reagan
California State Assemblyman Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) has seen his first resolution of the 2013-14 legislative session pass the state Assembly. The resolution, known as ACR 5, pays tribute to President Ronald Reagan for his many contributions to California and the nation by designating his birthday, February 6, as Ronald Reagan Day.
Seventy-three Assembly members signed on as co-authors of the resolution. The full resolution will now go to the California state Senate for a vote.

“President Reagan took office at a time when our nation was facing a crisis of confidence. He governed on the principles of individual liberty, limited government, and peace through strength,” said Wilk. “My legislation honors his legacy.”
President Reagan would have celebrated his 102nd birthday this year. He was the 33rd Governor of California from 1967-1975 and the only California governor to become a U.S. President when he ascended to the White House in 1981, becoming the nation's 40th president.
Wilk’s district, AD38, is home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. The library will celebrate Reagan’s 102 birthday this year with a flyover, a color guard, the placing of an honorary wreath, a 21-gun salute, and keynote remarks by the former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. The ceremony will be held outdoors and is free to attend, however reservations are recommended. For more information, please call 805-522-2977.
